Vampire

A vampire stalks the night
He sees is first victim
A child
Lost and confused
“Mother?”
“Where are you?!”
The vampire smiles
Baring his bleach white canines
“Come child; let’s find your mother…”
“Thank you mist…….”
The child’s small body quakes with each snap of the vampire’s fangs
The sweet blood of innocence runs down the vampires pale cheeks
He smiles to himself
As he drops the child
The child falls like a torn up rag doll, played with for the last time
His little neck snaps as he lands on his head at an awkward angle
Cloak flowing, the vampire walks with an easy gait
Away from the horrific scene
He wipes red nectar from his lips

Second victim
Beautiful
Long brown hair
Olive skin
Gentle eyes
She smiles
He smiles back at her
They dance at a masquerade ball
He moves swiftly and silently along the dance floor
She is captivated by his deep eyes
She stares deep into them
Seeing her own death within their confines
Yet she cannot turn away
They are outside
On the veranda
It is a peaceful night
A mild wind sweeps across her gentle face
He kisses her
Her final kiss
Gently he lifts her
Cradles her in his arms
He then sinks his fangs into her supple neck slowly
A final ecstasy
He drains her lifeblood
As she slides from his hands he breaks down
How can one so beautiful be lifeless?
And by his own hands
He whispers a single phrase
As he lifts a relic from his neck
“Give me penance”
It is a cross
It burns into his skin
He holds it to his neck
Punishment
Anger
Hatred
“FORGIVE ME FATHER!!!!!!”
A priest turned killer
Why was this wrong committed?
Now he is among the forever damned
Seeking useless forgiveness
Burning unburnable flesh
He is damned
A poor soul
Self-loathing
Self punishment gives him peace
Be free dark one
Set yourself free
Be free!!!!!
He tears his cross from his burning neck
Throws himself and the cross from his church steeple
Shadowy wings catch his damned body
Be free!
Feel no pain
Be free!!!
He glides through the cool night air
He feels free
Letting go of his anger, sadness, and self-hatred
He flies through the dark night sky
A dark winged beast free from his self-made shackles
Dark beauty, fly free

A child looks up
Catching a glimpse of the priest he smiles
He looks down
And picks up the priest’s former shackle
His eyes glow red
He smiles his demonic smile
“Fly, be free son of mine…”
